Sensor S-JP Ex is build in Ex protection type EEx de. It is universal and easy for setting up. Sensor can detect explosive gases and vapours. Sensor measuring head S-JP Ex is made up of metallic housing, built in anti-explosive protection (EEx d), which is mounted on plastic housing in anti-explosive protection increased safety (EEx e).
There are two different sensor types:
Semiconductor: Semiconductor sensor changes the electrical resistance depending on gas concentration.
Pelistor: Two sensor elements are in one measuring head, which are heated with constant current. At the presence of gas-air mixture, the gas on the sensor element starts to burn and the element changes the resistance.
Assembly of sensor
For correct setup of gas sensors, we need information about relative gas density according to air density. Sensor should be mounted near the source of the potential gas leak. Sensor S-JP Ex is placed in height as regard to gas density:
LPG - liquid petrolium gas heavier than air, detector is placed approximately 20 cm above floor.
Natural gas - lighter than air, detector is placed under ceiling.
